Week 65: Talca Twist

Hey everyone!

It was a very eventful week. We had our zone conference this last Wednesday in Curico (like going home--haha!! Love Curico) with President de Hoyos and his wife, and President Villar, from the area presidency. It was a wonderful conference with half the mission combined. Fun to see everyone and to learn all together. It took a lot to get there, traveling and all, but worth it!

We also attended a beautiful baptism this last Saturday to help out with the music...and receive cambios--haha! I am staying here in Talca! With Hermana Collins. We are excited for this cambio and to celebrate our birthday together--haha.

I was not expecting to stay in Talca, which is part of the twist, but the other part of my subject line has to do with my companion spraining her ankle, which was not fun. But she has been very positive and upbeat about it and we are working, slowly but surely.

We also had a small ward activity this week to celebrate the 18 de septiembre. We learned to dance la cueca, the traditional dance of Chile, and we ate a lot of food. It was a lot of fun and the Chileans
know how to party! This week is all holiday, and full of empanadas and BBQs. It is a bit slow with the work, but there are still plenty of miracles and lots of food--haha.

Thought of the week:

¨Be of good cheer. The future is as bright as your faith.¨--President Monson

I like that. We decide what were going to do and who we are going to be. And if I have learned anything about faith...faith is a gift! And like any good gift, we must ask and be humble. But it is available. The future should be very bright indeed!

Love you all! Have an excellent week!

Con amor,
Hermana Eibert

Week 64: Bad Egg

Greetings from Chile!

Seré breve hoy...

This week was very long and hard. Whohoooo foood poisioning!!! But of course there were still miracles.

We had a fun noche de hogar (FHE) with some of my favorite members here. The hermana whipped up some fantastic sopaipillas and it was a blast.

We also met the cutest and craziest family this week. The mom is an inactive member and the rest aren't members, but they are hilarious and remind me of my family--haha.

Thought:

#smile

Have a great week! Love you all!

Springtime is coming to Chile.

And for the record--this is a PET chicken that lives inside the house.

Week 63: #Dance

This week was full of service opportunities. Nothing was really planned, they were all basically last minute things that turned out wonderfully. For example, we were leaving our house this last Wednesday and we hadn't walked but 2 minutes and we saw a lady working on her yard, shoveling away. I stopped to ask if we could help her and I hadn't even finished asking when she threw her gate open and told us to come in. We went to work, in skirts and all, and it was really fun. We helped her set up her lawn with a top soil for grass that will be growing and then we started hauling big rocks out of her garden. She was so sweet and had been needing the help. We spent the morning with her and turns out she has met with elders before too and is willing to have us over to teach her too. We were so excited to meet her!

Another service opportunity came when we had intercambios with the hermanas from Panamericana. All 4 of us were working here in Jardin del Valle, staying in the sector together, but we went to the capilla/chapel to help our RS president clean it. It was fun and went by quickly with lots of hands helping.

We also headed over to Piduco yesterday night to spend the night and have a bit of a sleepover with us 6 hermanas (us, Piduco and Panamericana). It was fun and we cooked up a storm and enjoyed lots of treats and time together. And then this morning we tackled the mountain of weeds that had grown into a jungle, together. The 6 of us did it in a couple of hours and it looks much better. We got the house cleaned up and then went out to lunch too.

Apart from the service, we had a ward activity this week too that was called ¨la fiesta del sombrero¨. It was really fun and we were thrilled because a lot of our investigators were able to come with their families. It was a big dance, with lots of music and food and everyone laughing and having a good time. It was fun to see everyone having such a great time. The only requirement to enter was a hat...anything really that is meant for your head. Eventually I will have pics...but trust me when I say it was fun.

Lots of craziness this week! And it flew by. Lots of miracles too. Tender mercies everyday.

Thought of the week:

I liked this quote:

We should really use every moment and opportunity we have to love and serve others. Be kind and generous and giving and loving. Have compassion. That is, after all, what the Savior did. And we should do the same. And we feel happier when we serve others. That I have learned. And everytime a thought comes to mind about lending a hand or serving or giving to others...thats definitely the Spirit talking and we shouldnt ignore it.

Have a great week, love you all!

Con amor,
Hermana Eibert
