Week 38: Guess what day it is?? HUMP DAY

Hola everyone!

This week was great. It is starting to cool down a bit, finally. It is still very hot, and I'm only slightly jealous of the spring everyone back home is talking about, but the mornings and the evenings are cooler and perfect. Soon fall will set in here and I am beyond excited to welcome the rain, haha!

I am also at my 9 month mark and I am kind of blown away at how fast the time has past You all have to go watch that hump day commerical for me, ha! I don't feel like I've been here that long and that I only have 9 months left. Being a missionary has been such a blessing and I love Chile and her people with all my heart.

This week was full of adventures and wonderful experiences. Lots of lessons learned. We have the opportunity to visit a lot of families, in every sense of the word, and it is incredible the love for them that fills my heart. We have had a couple opportunities for service activities this last week too. It is incredible how much joy we can feel when we serve and love others, and I am so grateful for every opportunity to do so. When we see someone distressed or struggling, it is so important to think about the Savior and what would He do. But even if it is just to listen, there are always people that need help and I know for a fact we can be instruments in the hands of God to be answers to prayers, and how cool is that?

My thought for the week:

One of my favorite hymns, in English and Spanish, is Have I Done Any Good? I love the lyrics and thought I would share them with you all.

1.     1. Have I done any good in the world today?Have I helped anyone in need?
Have I cheered up the sad and made someone feel glad?
If not, I have failed indeed
Has anyone’s burden been lighter today
Because I was willing to share?
Have the sick and the weary been helped on their way?
When they needed my help was I there?
2.     Then wake up and do something more
Than dream of your mansion above.
Doing good is a pleasure, a joy beyond measure,
A blessing of duty and love.
3.     2. There are chances for work all around just now,
Opportunities right in our way.
Do not let them pass by, saying, “Sometime I’ll try,”
But go and do something today.
’Tis noble of man to work and to give;
Love’s labor has merit alone.
Only he who does something helps others to live.
To God each good work will be known.
Love you all. Have a great week!!!

Con amor,

Spanish lyrics for Have I Done Any Good?

In Spanish too...sorry for all the emails from me today.
¿En el mundo acaso he hecho hoy
a alguno favor o bien?
¿Le he hecho sentir que ̮es bueno vivir?
¿He dado a él sostén?
¿He hecho ligera la carga de él
porque un alivio le di?
¿O acaso al pobre logré ayudar?
¿Mis bienes con él compartí?
4.     ¡Alerta!
Es noble y grande a otros servir;
hay mérito en trabajar.
Sólo el que trabaja se siente feliz,
y Dios le recompensará.

Week 37: Monkey Poop?

I wish I had the picture to send, but remember how I said I made successful Dinosaur Poop Cookies? We had a Noche de Hogar (or family home evening) with several of our investigators and the members here in Rengo and I brought these cookies. They are obsessed with them now. I am proud to say I have made an addition to the Chilean diet. But it was so funny, because one hermana recognized the cookies from her mission (a gringa companion made them once) and she happily exclaimed ¨caca de mono!!¨or ¨monkey poop!¨ So, the no-bake cookies apparently have many names. And I am a well loved hermana here in Rengo!

But seriously, the members here are about as sweet as it gets.

This week was a little crazy. We had to travel to the main city, Rancagua, 3 days in a row. Tuesday was interviews with President Harris. Wednesday was a district meeting. And Thursday we had intercambios (exchanges) with the hermanas in Cachapoal. I stayed in Cachapoal this time with Hermana Hernandez (from Mexico). And my, oh my, was it so hot. Everyone talks about how cold it is back home, with snow and everything, and I am still roasting here. Bonus: I'll have a wicked cool tan when I get back home next December. But I learned a lot and it was a crazy fast week.

Thought of the week (jumbled as usual):

I have been thinking alot about faith this last week. It is so important and so many people lack it, myself included. And I loved what President Eyring said about faith that ¨The miracle of faith is it drives out doubt and fear.¨ There are so many reasons we need to have faith and to continue to grow our faith. Faith is a principle of action. It is to believe and to act according to our beliefs. Faith inspires, faith motivates, faith gives us access to grace, faith is everything. How important it is to have faith.

I love this verse in the BoM.

Alma 32:27
¨But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if you can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you...¨

Faith isn't impossible. We all have a great need to work on this. I love that, even if its only a desire to belief, and desire to know, God can work with that. We just have to be willing.

Have a great week everyone, love you all.

Con amor,
Hermana Eibert

p.s. still no pics, sorry mom

So Wednesday we had our district meeting and 2 packages arrived for me. Gale and a Hump Day package (I will be opening it on Hump Day). Gale's package has peanut butter, and the good kind!!!! And popcorn! Oh, I've missed popcorn. Only cried a little bit--haha.
