Week 62: Our Investigator Might Be Wanted By the Police

To explain the subject line....we started teaching the sweetest lady this last week. Cute little family and everything and we were so excited. We confirmed the second appointment the night before and then we headed over to her house. We were knocking on the door for a bit and called her a couple times but nothing, it looked like nobody was home. We were just about to leave when suddenly the police start rolling very slowly down the street. They rolled down the window and asked what street we were on...we told them and looked up at the house we were standing in front of and then parked and got out. Andddd started knocking on the door too, right next to us. So when the Mormon missionaries and the police are looking for you....I guess you really don't open the door. Fun times, fun times.

We had a blast this week. We whipped up some peanut butter cookies (oh,how I have missed simple things like peanut butter cookies!) and they were delicious. There was a special conference yesterday too and we made pancakes for breakfast with syrup and homemade manjar (which is awesome). We are learning lots of new stuff.

The rain started back up this week and it slowed us down a bit. We survived with the umbrellas until the wind started up and then it was just fun.

Something I have learned this week is when things aren't going your way, (like the gas runs out while you are showering on a very cold morning, and then the power goes out too, and the bike has a flat tire and you're tired...) you just have to laugh. (Laugh or you are probably going to cry, right?). Hermana Collins has helped me a lot with just letting things go. We just laugh everything off. And laughing is fun, so that's good.

We have a special conference coming up in the mission next month and this morning after our zone activity we started working on a special musical number. I am so grateful for music and the opportunity to help out on the piano. And it's a mashup of "I'm Trying to be Like Jesus¨ and ¨He Sent His Son¨ from the primary song book. We are pretty excited about that.

Thought of the week:

All of Chile had the opportunity yesterday to watch a special conference with President Oaks and Elder Christofferson. We gathered together as a stake here. They spoke about a lot of things but I think what I liked most was how when we are obedient to the commandments the blessings will always be there. They talked about everything from reading the scriptures and praying, to paying tithing and such. And I love the eternal truth behind this simple idea...God is a man of His word and will always fulfil his promises. We have the grand promise that if we keep the commandments, we will prosper, we will be blessed. And I love that each commandment has general blessings and very specific blessings too. They are things we can put in practice too and see the results.

This part has been one of the best things to see on my mission. When the people can put in practice a commandment, especially when they are skeptical (like thinking they can't stop drinking, or smoking, or they can't pay tithing, etc) and then they watch the miracles come pouring into their lives. The Lord doesn't change, and when we do our part, He will always do His. The Lord keeps his promises, always.

I love you all. Have an excellent week.

Con amor,
Hermana Eibert

Week 61: Hitler le ama

P-day emails in the Internet Cafe in Talco with Hermans Eibert and Collins--20 August 2018

It was a busy week this week. Lots of running and working hard. The weather is in that awkward stage where it is freezing in the morning and you need to bundle up and by mid-afternoon you are sweating up a storm with the scorching sun. Welcome spring...

My two favorite contacts of the week:

 1) We went to buy sandwiches from the restaurant next to our house called Senor de la Noche. Our neighbor is cool and while we were ordering and waiting for the food he asked us a bunch of questions about what we do and all and then invited us over to share a little more this next week. Cherry on top of a very good day. And chicken guacamole sandwiches....doesn't get better than that.

2) Stopped an older gentleman in the street and we asked him what his name was. He yelled Hail Hitler and we stood there staring at him. We didn't know if he was joking, or being rude, or if he was just crazy. But in the end he asked us what message we had to share...and my sweet companion, in the moment, stumbled on her words and said we testify of how Hitler loves us. Don't worry, we saved the contact and found out he really is just crazy--so it's all good. But it was the funniest thing.

Today we had our zone activity and played futbol/soccer. Cheeseburgers with the zone after! Good day.

Very short and sweet this week....

Thought of the week:

Every moment has eternal significance. We shouldn't waste a minute. Every minute we lose is a minute we won't get back. And we shouldn't worry so much...worrying doesn't fix anything. That is something I am still learning--haha. But patience with others and our ourselves makes every moment more enjoyable.

Love you all. Have a great week.

Con amor,
Hermana Eibert

Week 60: That's an....Ostrich?

What a week!

It rained last night here in Talca and was raining in the morning and I am so glad my comp likes the rain as much as I do. It has been a really busy week. But I have learned a lot.

Tuesday Hermana Collins arrived here in Talca. She is from Bountiful, Utah and turns out we share a birthday! But I am a year older. It´ll be fun if we get to celebrate together next month!

Wednesday we made our way back up to Rancagua together (another very long bus ride...) for a training. We have a new assignment as referral secretaries and are in charge of managing the referrrals for our zone here in Talca. It's fun and keeps us busy. We got back late Wednesday night and Thursday is when the real work began!

It has been crazy learning the new sector and exploring new parts. Only once did we call the other area to find out we were actually lost and contacting in their sector, but that's just fine--haha. We have already started seeing the miracles and have a lot to do, and I am so excited.

Last week before I said goodbye to Hermana Queiroz, we went to some gardens that the University of Talca has. It was beautiful and there were lots of animals too. It was fun because my comp wasn't familiar with some of the types of animals we saw (like an ostrich) and so we learned a couple new words in Spanish...all in all, a fun trip! I will have to send more pictures later...I got to chase a peacock too.

Thought of the week:

Count your many blessings. Attitude of gratitude! When we have thankful heart, we will be happier.

Short and sweet this week.

Love you all

Con amor,
Hermana Eibert

Week 59: My name is Hermana Eibert, Sister Eibert is my mother

Hey everyone!

This week flew by. Literally, I am not sure where it went. We traveled a lot and had so many things going on all at once. Wednesday my companion was very sick, but we still had 2 different meetings that we attended, and then we made the 3 hour bus ride to Rancagua to have intercambios with the hermanas in Cachapoal. It was so sweet to see and work with Hermana Dumes again! Love her to death. Thursday we were with the hermanas there in Rancagua and had a meeting at the mission home too. Spent the afternoon there and it's always fun to see President and Hermana Harris. I am incredibly grateful for them and all they do!
In front of President and Hermana Harris' house in Rancagua

Saturday we spent most of the day working on moving the house of the elders and cleaning and gutting it completely. Their sector/area is closing and we are taking it over, on top of our own area. It has been crazy because they have had to work with us and try and teach us their area in a couple days and where all of their investigators live. I am praying my memory is good--haha. But we cleaned up their house and closed it down and they're gone now. We had the opportunity to eat lunch with the Hunzekers, a couple missionary that are heading home this week. They are the sweetest! And Hermana Hunzeker made us pumpkin pie!! Tender mercies are real!

Saturday night we received our transfer calls. Cambios!! Hermana Queiroz is leaving me alone in Jardin del Valle....(the ward said goodbye to both elders and her this weekend) and is heading to Rancagua! My new companion, who I have yet to meet, is an Hermana Collins. I am excited to meet her and work with her. This cambio is going to be crazy. We have a new assignment too to be managing the referrals here in Talca. Something new for me and I am excited to learn and take on a new challenge.

All in all...I love the mission. I am so grateful for everything I have learned and every single person I have met. I love the Lord and I know He loves us. And I am so excited to see what else he has in store.

My thought to share:

Short and sweet...more to come next week!

Love you all! Have a great week!

Con amor,
