Week 36: It is the Little Things That Count

It is the little things that count, that make all the difference. Things like the dinosaur poop cookies you made (no-bake cookies, in case you're wondering) worked out (this time), you didn't die in the heat this week, the members loved your dress Sunday at church, and you didn't butcher the hymns during sacrament meeting, and your golden investigators came to church and loved it and their baby was happy all 3 hours....the little things were actually pretty big in my book this week, and I am so very thankful.

This week was very fast and very simple. Lots of work and lots of blessings.

Thought for the week:

Saw this quote on the church webpage and I thought I share:

“Our present circumstances may not change, but through God’s compassion, kindness, and love, we will all receive more than we deserve.” —Elder Dale G. Renlund

Really short this week, but know that I am here and I am happy and I love you all.

Con amor,

Hermana Eibert

Week 35: Gettin' the Gang Back Together

Hello everyone!!

This week was crazy! Tuesday we were in Rancagua all day. The first part of the day was medical for my companion, and then the second part was meeting all together as a mission. It was such a sweet experience. We all had lunch together and started a fast together too. President and Hermana Harris shared beautiful messages with us and we all sang together. It was a very historic moment, all the mission together in one moment, and I can't wait to see the picture!!

Wednesday was even better. We all left in buses at about 7:15 in the morning and we went up to Santiago. Wednesday was February 14th, our 8 month mark in the mission! I can't believe its been 8 months and how sweet it was to spend it with the people that arrived with me! We definitely had to take a picture (yes mom, I know I am wearing the same dress in all the pictures I sent, but they were all from the same day). I also had the opportunity to take a picture with all the companions, past and present! That never happens--haha.

It was also the coolest day because Elder D. Todd Christofferson came to speak to our mission. We combined with Santiago Sur and it was powerful. Elder Christofferson greeted each and everyone of us too. His message focused in on the Plan of Salvation and the perfect love God has for us. There are so many intricate and complicated parts to this marvelous and perfect plan, things we can't even dream of understanding right now. It was really eye opening for me. I loved it and I have put myself to learning even more. It was so cool too because he opened the floor up to questions, a little Q and A, and this man knows his doctrine and scriptures perfectly. He doesn't teach without his scriptures, which was a powerful lesson for me. We can't always trust the words of others, but we can trust the word of God and the guidance He has given us. All in all, the experience was incredible, one we will never forget!

We also received cambios this week, and it was no surprise that I will be staying in Rengo with Hermana Morales. Makes sense since she only has a couple weeks here with the special transfers. Excited to continue working in Rengo!

Have a great week!! Lots of love to you all!

Con amor,

Hermana Eibert

Week 34: Onward, Ever Onward

Hermana Morales and Hermana Eibert in Rengo--12 February 2018

Hey everyone!

These last two weeks have been crazy. Between my companion's medical problems and sickness, we haven't been able to work hardly at all. I have been going a little crazy being in the house all day as a missionary. Not much to do inside. I have put myself to studying a lot, which has been a mercy in disguise. I have learned a lot and had my heart softened. We are continuing to push forward and trying to look at the bright side of things. (Which isn't hard because it's so bright and so stinkin' hot here. I miss AC so much--haha).

But we have lots of things to look forward too, we get to meet as a mission, which almost never happens. We will be eating lunch all together and having a fireside with President Harris. All of that is tomorrow. And then Wednesday we will all board buses and head for Santiago. We are so excited to have the opportunity to listen to Elder Christofferson speak to us as a misión. I am beyond excited.

And so I should have much to say next week :)

Thought for the week:

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, in one of his talks from this last conference, titled ¨Bearers of Heavenly Light¨ said this:

¨Night is nothing more than a shadow. Even the darkest of nights, the sun does not cease to radiate its light. It continues to shine as bright as ever. But half of the earth is in darkness.

The absense of light causes darkness.

When the darkness of night falls, we do not despair and worry that the sun is extinguished. We do not postúlate that the sun is not there or is dead. We understand that we are in a shadow, that the earth will continue to rotate and that eventually the rays of the sun will reach us once again.

Darkness is not an indication that there is no light. Most often, it simply means we're simply not in the right place to receive light.¨

I love this. So many things in our life can cast shadows over us and we feel like we're missing out on true light, true joy and happiness. But how easy we really do forget that it is all about perspective. A ¨veil of forgetfulness¨ can cover us so easily, but we need to remember to seek the light. And to never forget to be the light for others. We should always extend out a hand for those in need. Always. We are bearers of light, and when we are in our darkest moments, others have the light to share, and the Light Himself is there with open arms, if we are only willing. Darkness is only the absence of light. Let the light in.

I love you all. Have an amazing week.

Con amor,
Hermana Eibert

Week 33: Curico, Rengo, Cachapoal

Zone Conference in Curico--1 February 2018

This week has been crazy, we were sick a lot. It was a little rough, but things are okay now. However, the highlight was definitely making my way back to Curico! The Rancagua zones (where I currently am) combined with the Curico zones and I found myself back in Alameda this week! What a sweet experience that was. I loved leading the way through the city too, back to where I started! Granted--I didn't speak very fluent Spanish back then, but I definitely learned those streets and that chapel! It was crazy too because we traveled to San Fernando, another city here in Chile, to make it to Curico in time the next morning. And we ended up staying in Cachapoal, Rancagua that night because we couldn't make it back to Rengo. So, lots of traveling this week, but I got to see lots of friends in the mission and we had so many tender merices with people and buses and walking and everything over those 3 days.

Zone conference was absolutely amazing. We talked about repentence and the process of it. It is so sad how people think of repentance as something negative sometimes. Repentance is truly a gift. It is not a sad or bad experience. Sometimes it is difficult, yes, but it a beautiful and humbling experience. It is a gift that we all have available to use. It is an opportunity to change. I loved it and it fit in with my studies of humility and patience. I am so grateful for the opportunity we all have to repent and become better people everyday. We have the opportunity to learn and grow everyday. It is truly incredible.

Though we have only had a week together, my new companion is awesome! I am learning so much from her, but I am desperately trying to avoid developing an accent from Argentina--haha!

Short this week, but all is well. Have a great week.

Con amor,
