Ha, here I am!
As missionaries we are always learning new things,
especially in regards to the language. I have had many experiences that were
hilarious, but I think my favorite thing I heard this week was the mission
president telling all his missionaries they needed to esuchar sus conejos....or
listen to his rabbits/bunnies. Conejos is very similar to consejos, which means
advice/counsel. But listening to bunnies is cool too, right?
This week was crazy. We had our zone conference last
Wednesday, and I swear, President Harris answered questions I didn't even
realize I had. We talked about and learned together about the Plan of
Salvation.
It never ceases to surprise me how much I don't know and
how much I have to keep studying and keep learning. There is always room for
more. It made me realize there is so much I don't understand yet, but that is
okay, and I can keep learning and growing. One of the focuses we had was in the
very name of the plan, and how there are many names. Plan of Salvation...plan of happiness...plan of
redemption...plan of restoration...plan of mercy...the great plan of the
eternal God. And with all those names, it is still a plan for me and you. It is
for us, it is a plan of love. I loved every minute of the conference and feel
so blessed and grateful.
On another note, if there are still people that actively
follow these letters, I wasn't able to write yesterday and thankfully my mom
refrained from calling anybody. It wasn't planned, but we ended up traveling the
whole mission to figure out stuff for my visa, but I officially will be
receiving a Chilean ID card soon and I am all good to go. But it was cool to
see Curico again and get to know a little bit of Talca. Both of which are
beautiful. We got up at 3:30 in the morning to leave at 4 to travel and didn't
back to our sector until 9pm, which is why I didn't write. But life is always an
adventure, especially as a missionary.
Like I wrote about a couple weeks ago, life is full of
tender mercies and little miracles. It really is the little things that count. Saturday was hot and the sky was bright blue and there
was not a single cloud in the sky. But I brought my umbrella anyway. Somebody
had said it might rain. As we were leaving our last appointment that night, we
heard the rain pouring down on the rooftop. I was so stinkin' excited. How I
have missed the rain. It was refreshing and beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed
the walk home and leaving the window open that night to fall asleep to the
sound of rain fall. It was a very much needed miracle for me. Never thought I
would miss the rain so much. On the bright side, with that rain fall, we have
started to see a decline in the heat. It is still hot, but fall is definitely
here in Chile now, and WINTER IS COMING.
My thought of the week:
“God cares a lot more about who we are, and who we are
becoming, than about who we once were.”—Elder Dale G. Renlund
We are here to change, to learn, to grow. It doesn't
matter about what we have done or who we were, as long as we are on the path to
change. We can't change the past, but the past can change us.
There is always something to learn and something we can take forward with us.
And it doesn't matter what people think. That seems to be a theme I have seen
this week, people worried about what other people think or will think if they
do something. Why does what other people think matter? It doesn't. The only
thing that matters is what God thinks of us. I know with all my heart He loves
us. And He will help us. And if we trust in Him, everything will be okay.
Have a great week. Love you all.
Con amor,
Hermana Eibert
